how do I get saved?

We're all flawed people. Each of us has our own share of bad habits and issues. When we dive beneath the surface we're confronted with the reality that at our core we fear that we are more than just flawed. There's something more intense at work.

The Bible calls that "sin" and the truth is all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23).

In the beginning God created a good world. He wanted His creation to reflect His glory and goodness. Unfortunately sin entered into the world because of an act of disobedience and rebellion against God. Romans 5:12 says "...Sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned." Death has spread to all areas of our lives because all of us have sinned.

Sin brings consequences, the greatest of those being spiritual death and eternal separation from God. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). In that one verse we see the disease and the remedy.

The disease is death brought on by sin. The remedy is Jesus.

Romans 10:13 says, "For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."" As we cry out to God in prayer he hears us. The way for us to be saved from the death and separation that sin causes is to confess our sinfulness to Jesus and to submit our lives to him as our Lord. Make that prayer today in faith -- believing in your heart that He is able to save and forgive.

Romans 10:9-10 states, "9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

When you pray to God asking for forgiveness of your sins and trusting in Jesus to save you the Bible promises you that, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)." So you can have peace knowing that since you've confessed and called out to Jesus God has forgiven you and cleansed you from the stain of sin!

That's the beginning of your new life in Christ. Now you have been forgiven of every sin you've ever committed. Now you're under the grace of God. Now you have the hope of eternal life in heaven with Christ. If you prayed today to ask Jesus to forgive you and to live in your heart we would love to hear from you. Send an email to brian@forwardchurch.me and let us know that you prayed that prayer and we will get back with you with some resources to help you as you follow Christ.
